The annual registration period is from 10 April to 9 April inclusive. Annual registration fees are set by Council according to legislative requirements.

To register a restricted breed dog (ie Japanese Tosa, Fila Brasilero, Perro de Presa Canario – aka Presa Canario, American Pit Bull Terrier – aka Pit Bull Terrier) and dogs declared dangerous or menacing, contact our Local Laws unit on (03) 5422 0333.

Important information before you continue:

All pets are required to be microchipped and proof of this must be provided as part of your application.

When claiming a discounted registration fee supporting documentation must be provided.

Make sure you have digital copies of relevant supporting documents ready to upload with this application. Refer to the table below for more information about what is required. You will not be able to complete your application without these documents.

The person registering the pet must be 18 years or over.

The personal information collected is in accordance with the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and will only be disclosed as permitted by law. View Council’s Privacy Policy, for further details. While carrying out our duties, we may need to pass owner/s contact details onto vets, animal shelters, other councils or police. Once received, registration tags must be worn by your pet when outside your property.
